The Original People, the Refugees, and Those From the Darkness
The people of Crann Na Beahta currently consists of three groups of people: Those given life by Mathair Astinmah or “he who watches,” The Refugees, and Those from the outer darkness.
Original Inhabitants
Ciad-Ghin (The First Born.)
In the pits of her despair, Mathair na coille (Astinmah) ran from the prime world to escape the pain of loss. She found and descended upon Crann Na Beatha. Settling in the area known as Sìth na màthar,1 she fell into a deep and lonely sleep. Each of her breaths and dreams birthed new life. In her first dream, she awoke to find herself surrounded by graceful forest dwellers who had lived in the vast forests for lifetimes.
These people were slight of body, with almond-shaped eyes, long hair, and pointed ears. When she asked them who they were, they simply said, “We are the Caid-Ghin.2”
The Ciad-Ghin, or First Born, were the first people to populate the Crann Na Beatha. At first, they all lived in the primordial forest and offered prayers to Màthair Astinmah.…
