The Obsidian Druide by Caroline Barnard-Smith is simply put, a good book to read. Caroline’s world has two moons, Aikana and Mamai. It is the waning of Mamai and the Waxing of Aikana when this tale starts and let’s it great cast of characters run wild.
Gwin, the Asrai spellcaster comes to the city to recruit the changelings for her army.
Lord Dewar is the arch-druid that has betrayed all of his friends to get to the top, and now controls all magic in the land.
Vanth, the vile. A salt-sword that gets infected with dark magic when Aikana rises.
Lowen the Scrat, a woman who is with child, and her satyr lover who have to survive long enough for the child to be born.
Caroline has gone to great pains to give each character his or her own motivations, and it shows as they interact in a great dance.
By the end of the book, the greatest question is “Why did Gwin decide to stay at that evil keep?”
My rating 4.7/5
A must read.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my book and write this review. I'm writing the second one right now and all I can say is, life for Gwin in Dewer's tower is going to get crazy 😜
